Absence Management Specialist

Role Description: As an Absence Management Specialist, you guide employees through the full absence and reintegration process, from the first day of absence through return to work, in accordance with the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter (Gatekeeper Improvement Act). You act as a central point of contact for employees, managers, and site leadership regarding absence and reintegration. You translate occupational health advice into practical actions and provide professional guidance throughout the absence process.

You will work as part of a dedicated Case Management team supporting employees across both manufacturing sites and office locations. Alongside case management, you will contribute to absence prevention, process improvements, and organisational projects.

Responsibilities: Manage absence cases from the first day of absence through reintegration and return to work. Ensure compliance with the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter and internal absence-management procedures. Act as a central contact for employees, managers, and site leadership regarding absence-related matters. Conduct regular absence and reintegration discussions. Translate company/occupational physician advice into clear and practical actions.

Support employees and managers throughout the complete absence process. Guide and coordinate applications related to WIA and IVA benefits. Maintain accurate case documentation and ensure timely follow-up. Provide professional input on absence management and prevention. Contribute to improvement projects and initiatives related to employee wellbeing and absence processes.

Requirement: Bachelor’s degree / HBO level education or equivalent professional experience. Certified Registered Case Manager, such as CROV, RCCM, or RCMC. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in absence management and reintegration. Strong knowledge and practical experience with the Wet Verbetering Poortwachter. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English. Accurate, pragmatic, and structured approach. Experience working within a large or international organisation.

Able to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility. Strong planning and organisational skills. Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
