Volledige omschrijving
Context: We are looking for a Senior Google Cloud Foundation Engineer to support the design and implementation of a new Google Cloud Foundation MVP within a large enterprise environment. The initial use case will focus on enabling Google Gemini alongside existing AI and cloud platforms such as Microsoft Foundry and AWS Bedrock. The assignment includes establishing a secure, scalable and future-proof Google Cloud Foundation, as well as supporting the migration of existing use cases.
In the longer term, the platform should evolve into an enterprise-ready cloud environment, enabling future DevOps teams to be onboarded efficiently while complying with internal architecture, security, governance and operational standards.
Role: As a Google Cloud Foundation Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and implementing an enterprise-grade Google Cloud Foundation. Depending on your expertise, the position may focus primarily on hands-on implementation, architecture, or a combination of both. You will work on cloud infrastructure, security, IAM, networking, governance, automation and operationalization of the platform.
Key Responsibilities: Cloud Foundation & Platform Design: Design and implement an enterprise-grade Google Cloud architecture aligned with internal standards, policies and security requirements. Build a scalable and future-proof Google Cloud Foundation / Landing Zone. Support the initial implementation enabling the adoption of Google Gemini. Translate business and technical requirements into cloud infrastructure designs. Evaluate technical design options, benefits and trade-offs.
Ensure designs comply with architecture, security and operational requirements. Support the deployment and operationalization of the platform.
Security & Governance: Develop and implement a cloud threat model. Implement governance and security standards covering encryption, cloud policies and standards, access management, compliance requirements, and security controls. Integrate cloud security controls with existing enterprise security processes. Apply Least Privilege principles throughout the environment.
Identity & Access Management: Design and implement enterprise IAM architectures. Establish and maintain Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Federated Identity, Least Privilege Access, and identity and access governance.
Networking: Design and implement Google Cloud networking architectures. Ensure secure connectivity between cloud environments, services and enterprise infrastructure. Support networking requirements for workloads and platform services. Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Automate cloud infrastructure and platform components using Terraform. Develop automation and supporting tooling using Python. Implement reusable Infrastructure as Code components.
Automate foundational services, security controls and cloud configurations. Support deployment automation and platform lifecycle management. Operations, Monitoring & Observability: Implement logging, monitoring and observability capabilities. Integrate cloud environments with existing SIEM platforms. Define and implement operational processes for incident management, platform operations, root cause analysis, performance optimization, and capacity management.
Support complex incident resolution when required. Participate in on-call activities where applicable.
Cloud Governance & FinOps: Contribute to cloud governance and lifecycle management. Establish cost tracking, showback/chargeback mechanisms, and cloud cost management processes. Contribute to the definition of operational and engagement models with cloud providers. Support the optimization of cloud consumption and resources.
Migration & Platform Adoption: Support the migration of existing workloads and use cases to the new Google Cloud environment. Ensure the platform can efficiently onboard future DevOps teams. Create and maintain relevant technical documentation. Promote cloud engineering best practices and knowledge sharing.
Must-Have Requirements: 5+ years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure, cloud engineering or system engineering. Proven hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in enterprise environments. Strong experience designing and/or implementing Cloud Foundations / Landing Zones. Strong hands-on expertise with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code. Experience with Python for scripting and automation. Strong understanding of IAM and RBAC.
Strong knowledge of cloud security and governance. Good understanding of cloud networking. Experience implementing cloud infrastructure in complex enterprise environments. Experience with logging, monitoring and operationalization of cloud platforms. Ability to translate requirements into technical designs and implementations. Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities. Professional proficiency in English.
Nice-to-Have: Experience with Google Gemini. Experience with AI platforms such as Microsoft Foundry or AWS Bedrock. Experience within a regulated industry or financial environment. Understanding of FinOps principles and cloud cost management. Knowledge of SIEM integration. Dutch language skills.
Technical Environment: Core technologies: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform, Python, Infrastructure as Code, IAM/RBAC, Federated Identity, Google Cloud Networking, Cloud Security, Cloud Governance, Logging & Monitoring, Observability, SIEM, FinOps.
Additional relevant technologies: Google Gemini, Microsoft Foundry, AWS Bedrock, AWS/Azure environments.
Desired Profile: We are particularly interested in a hands-on Google Cloud Foundation Engineer rather than a purely conceptual cloud architect. The ideal candidate combines strong GCP and Terraform expertise with practical experience building and operationalizing enterprise cloud foundations / landing zones. You should be comfortable working across cloud infrastructure, IAM, networking, security, governance and automation, while collaborating with architecture, security, infrastructure and DevOps stakeholders.
Expected Outcomes: The assignment should contribute to delivering a working Google Cloud Foundation MVP supporting an initial AI/Gemini use case, migration of existing use cases to the new environment, a secure and scalable enterprise Google Cloud Foundation, governance, security, IAM and operational models suitable for a large enterprise environment, and efficient onboarding capabilities for future DevOps teams.
