CSU Brussels (SB)_Kubernetes Platform Operations and Maintenance Expert

Full-time on-site contract role in Brussels, Belgium for a Kubernetes Platform Operations and Maintenance Expert.

Duties include: operate and maintain Kubernetes clusters (monitor cluster health, check nodes/pods/workloads/resource use/events/degraded components); manage cluster components and tooling (node lifecycle tasks, CNI, CSI, ingress, metrics server, CoreDNS, Prometheus, Grafana, logging stack, Cilium, on-premises registry, ArgoCD GitOps, cert-manager, Zabbix integration hooks, backup tooling); perform maintenance and security work (patching, upgrades, certificate rotation, secrets and RBAC management, access and network policy audits, vulnerability scanning); support backup and application operations (Commvault, Velero, K10); document and share knowledge; produce monthly deliverables (cluster health report, security compliance report, capacity and performance report, patching and upgrade report, incident and root cause analysis for P1–P3 incidents, configuration drift report, change log, risk register update); coordinate with the team (weekly status updates, activity planning, retrospectives, workshops).

Requirements: university degree and three years of relevant experience or equivalent, plus at least three years of hands-on Kubernetes operations experience; experience operating SUSE RKE2 Kubernetes distributions and working with monitoring, logging, repositories, ingress, CNI, and backup tooling; NATO Secret security clearance; full-time on-site in Brussels.

Desirable background: experience in an international environment with military and civilian personnel, knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization (ACO and ACT).

Scope: role covers activities inside Kubernetes clusters; underlying VMs, storage, and network infrastructure are NCIA’s responsibility; application development or debugging is outside the role.
