Data Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join the Digital & Data organization of a major player in the European energy sector. You will join an Agile product team and contribute to the development of reliable, reusable and scalable data products supporting business and data initiatives. The organization considers data a key asset supporting strategic ambitions, innovation, transformation and regulatory compliance. Its data platform includes integration capabilities, business intelligence, analytics, storage, master data management and data governance solutions covering lineage and data quality.

Responsibilities include designing and building data pipelines, creating efficient data storage structures, developing materialized views across analytical technologies, building data exchange endpoints for users and applications, working with data governance concepts including data modeling, lineage, glossary and data quality, developing data pipelines and data enrichments using Python within Databricks, collaborating with Business Analysts and stakeholders to refine requirements, delivering reusable and integrated solutions, contributing to extensive testing, strengthening DevOps principles within the team, producing and structuring technical documentation, and continuously improving solutions.

Technical requirements: extensive hands-on experience, preferably 3–5+ years, with strong experience in at least 2 of the following areas: SQL Server, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Azure Stream / Log Analytics, Azure DevOps, Python / PySpark in Databricks. Exposure or willingness to work with additional technologies such as Redis, RabbitMQ, Neo4j, and Apache Arrow.

Languages: English fluent – mandatory; French, Dutch or German fluent – strong advantage / soft requirement.

Practical information: location Brussels, work regime full-time, hybrid 2 days/week onsite in Brussels + 3 days/week remote after training.
