Our client is a leading organisation active in the critical infrastructure and utilities sector, playing a key role in supporting a reliable, sustainable, and future-oriented energy ecosystem across Europe. The organisation continuously invests in digital transformation initiatives. The Digital & Data department enables the organisation to leverage data as a strategic asset, focusing on enterprise data platforms, data integration & engineering, business intelligence & analytics, master data management, data governance, data quality & data lineage, and cloud-based data solutions.

The data organisation consists of product teams, platform teams, and cross-functional competency teams, all operating according to Agile principles. As a Data Engineer, you will join one of the data product teams and contribute to the development of a modern enterprise data platform. Key responsibilities include designing and developing data pipelines and integration solutions, building and maintaining efficient data storage structures, creating performant datasets and materialised views, developing data exchange interfaces and APIs, contributing to data governance initiatives (data quality, data lineage, data modelling, business glossaries), collaborating with business stakeholders, applying testing best practices and supporting DevOps-driven delivery, and producing technical documentation.

Required experience: at least 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a minimum of two of the following areas: data engineering & integration (Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Functions, Azure Stream Analytics / Log Analytics, Azure DevOps); data processing & development (Python development within a Databricks environment, building and maintaining data pipelines, data transformation and enrichment processes). Additional technologies such as Redis, RabbitMQ, Neo4j, Apache Arrow, or other modern data platform technologies are a plus (experience with or willingness to learn).

Technical competencies include strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enterprise-level thinking, results-driven mindset, pragmatic and business-oriented approach, customer-focused and iterative way of working, and experience in Agile environments. Personal competencies include strong communication and stakeholder management, team player, respectful and proactive, product-focused, and knowledge sharing.

Languages: fluent English is required; Dutch, French, or German is considered a strong asset.
