Database Administrator

Our client is a large healthcare organisation based in Brussels operating a complex, business-critical IT environment. They are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to strengthen their infrastructure team and support the management, performance and availability of their database platforms. As a Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance and optimisation of databases supporting critical applications across the organisation.

The current database environment is primarily based on Sybase (SAP ASE); previous Sybase experience is beneficial but not essential, and candidates with strong Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience who are comfortable learning and working with Sybase will also be considered. Key responsibilities include managing, maintaining and monitoring production and non-production database environments; monitoring database performance, availability and capacity; troubleshooting database incidents and performance issues; performing database installations, upgrades, patching and migrations; managing database backups, restores and disaster recovery procedures; and optimising queries, indexes and overall database performance.

Candidate requirements are strong professional experience as a Database Administrator / DBA, strong experience with either Sybase/SAP ASE or Microsoft SQL Server, experience with database performance tuning and optimisation, and fluency in English. The contract is freelance, with a duration of 12 months+ and potential extensions, working model hybrid/on-site, and start ASAP.
