This is a contract opportunity for a Database Administrator (DBA) with a large healthcare organisation based in Brussels, Belgium. The role involves administration, maintenance and optimisation of database platforms supporting critical applications. The current database environment is primarily based on Sybase (SAP ASE). Previous Sybase experience is beneficial but not essential; candidates with strong Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience who are comfortable learning and working with Sybase will also be considered. Key responsibilities include managing, maintaining and monitoring production and non-production database environments, monitoring performance/availability/capacity, troubleshooting incidents and performance issues, performing installations/upgrades/patching/migrations, managing backups/restores/disaster recovery, and optimising queries/indexes. Candidate requirements: strong professional experience as a Database Administrator/DBA, strong experience with either Sybase/SAP ASE or Microsoft SQL Server, experience with database performance tuning and optimisation, and fluency in English. The contract type is freelance/contract, duration 12 months+ with potential extensions, start ASAP, working model hybrid/on-site. Location: Brussels.
