Volledige omschrijving
Our client in the petrochemical and chemical industry needs an Environmental Compliance Advisor for an HSE and environmental compliance project in Geleen. You’ll prepare environmental permits and make sure operations meet the relevant legislation, acting as a key link between the organisation and the authorities. You’ll write permit applications and supporting documentation, interpret and apply Dutch environmental legislation, and turn regulatory requirements into practical guidance for the business.
You’ll be the first point of contact for government authorities and will handle communication with external stakeholders on permits and compliance. All relevant legislation and documentation are in Dutch, so native-level Dutch is essential. The role is based in Geleen, in the province of Limburg. It’s 40 hours per week, with 32 hours also possible. You’ll work full time on site at first, then move to four days on site and one day remote. The start date is as soon as possible.
It suits an HSE or environmental professional with petrochemical or chemical industry experience who is comfortable dealing directly with regulators.
Main responsibilities: write and prepare environmental permit applications and supporting documentation; interpret relevant environmental legislation and apply it to the organisation’s activities; act as the first point of contact with government authorities on permits and compliance; communicate with external stakeholders about permitting and compliance matters; monitor compliance with permit conditions and regulatory requirements; advise internal teams on what legislation and permit conditions mean for operations; keep permit and compliance documentation accurate, complete and up to date; flag compliance risks early and help resolve them.
Requirements – Essential: experience in the petrochemical and/or chemical industry; experience writing environmental permits; good understanding of relevant Dutch environmental legislation and how to apply it; confident dealing with government authorities and external stakeholders; native-level Dutch, spoken and written; able to work on site in Geleen, full time at first.
Desirable: knowledge of chemical processes and the wider chemical industry; English language skills.
The offer: project-based contract role in HSE and environmental compliance; 40 hours per week, with 32 hours possible; full time on site at first, then 1 day per week remote; start as soon as possible; rate to be confirmed with candidates. This role suits a Dutch-speaking environmental or HSE professional who knows the petrochemical and chemical sector and is confident handling permits and regulators.
