Expert Cybersecurity – Disaster Recovery & Resilience

Our client, a leading organization in the transport and infrastructure sector, is looking for an Expert Cybersecurity Disaster Recovery professional. The project ensures robust governance and strategic oversight of resilience capabilities to maintain validated continuity arrangements that balance technical feasibility with business priorities.

Responsibilities: Define and maintain disaster recovery strategies and standards to ensure technical feasibility and business alignment. Perform cost-benefit analyses for recovery options, including replication strategies and failover patterns. Drive organizational maturity improvement using recognized models like ISO 22301. Oversee disaster recovery readiness by reviewing test results and ensuring actionable remediation. Provide expert guidance on hybrid cloud and on-premise recovery designs and dependency mapping.

Requirements: 8+ years of experience in Resilience and Disaster Recovery within a broader 20-year career in IT. Proven track record in conducting maturity assessments and leading organizational improvement programs. Possess a CISSP certification and at least one recognized risk management certification. You bring experience in setting up disaster recovery environments, supported by a formal recommendation from a previous project. You possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

You have a strong business-oriented mindset with experience outside the purely technical IT domain. You’re capable of influencing stakeholders and driving change without direct authority. You are fluent in Dutch, French, and English with a minimum C1 level in all three languages.

Nice to Haves: In-depth knowledge of ISO 27031, NIST 800-34, and NIS 2 resilience obligations. Experience with multi-site recovery and high-dependency architectures. Familiarity with network, storage, replication, and failover patterns in hybrid environments. Specific certifications related to Disaster Recovery. Previous experience within critical infrastructure or similar high-availability sectors.

Offer: Start date 26/10/2026, duration until 31/12/2027, location Brussels, working model hybrid (minimum 2 days per week onsite), contract open to both permanent employees and freelancers.
