Expert Data Governance Specialist – Data Quality & Frameworks

Our client, a leading organization in the transport and infrastructure sector, is seeking an expert to lead the evolution of their data governance and quality frameworks. The role focuses on designing governance models, ensuring compliance, and embedding data roles across business and IT teams to foster a data-driven culture.

Responsibilities: Design and implement the data governance framework including target operating models, business glossaries, and data catalogues. Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to align governance processes with strategic organizational objectives. Support change management efforts by coaching and training stakeholders in roles such as Data Owners and Data Stewards. Monitor governance processes and analyze non-compliance to implement effective corrective actions.

Oversee the documentation of business terms, data classification, and the definition of data quality rules. Track and report on data quality, privacy compliance, and governance performance indicators. Lead and participate in internal and external data governance communities to share best practices.

Requirements: You have 8+ years of experience in large-scale organizations (>1,000 employees) focusing on Data Governance and Data Quality. You possess experience in Data Protection, Regulatory Compliance, Data Lineage, and Metadata Management. You bring experience in Project Management or Program Management specifically for data governance initiatives. You have a master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant data management field. You're able to perform complex analytical activities and simplify technical topics for non-technical audiences.

You possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to act as an integrator between Business, IT, Legal, and Risk teams. You are fluent in Dutch or French (C1 level) with B2 level in the other language and English.

Nice to Haves: Proficiency in Python or SQL. Experience with industry-leading data management and data governance tools. Hold a certification such as DMBOK, CIGO, or AAIM.

Offer: Start date 01/01/2027, duration 2 years until 31/12/2028, full-time, location Brussels, hybrid working model (minimum 2 days/week on-site). Contract is open to both permanent employees and freelancers.
