Functional Analyst (Freelance possible)

Within a large-scale business transformation programme, we are looking for an experienced functional analyst to strengthen the existing teams. You will join a department of around 90 people and contribute to the handover, refactoring and greenfield delivery of business applications. In this role, you are able to cover the full project lifecycle and work effectively in an Agile environment.

Tasks and responsibilities: Build and maintain durable relationships with stakeholders, including business representatives, project stakeholders, team leads and external partners. Identify, analyse, document and validate existing business processes as well as new functional and non-functional user needs. Translate requirements into business solutions through functional analyses, application designs and clear specifications. Collaborate with technical team members to validate functional designs and help translate them into technical specifications.

Ensure end-to-end follow-up of the delivery of new functionalities and applications. Prepare and maintain the documentation required throughout the various project phases. Work closely with business analysts and developers to refine and validate the proposed solutions. Coordinate with project managers to report on progress, support decision-making, manage risks and escalate when needed.

Deliverables: You contribute to the timely delivery of analysis documentation, software requirements specifications including diagrams and detailed analysis, data models, user stories, test plans and test cases.

Your profile: You are a confirmed functional analyst with strong business analysis capabilities and the ability to understand complex environments quickly. Very good functional and business analysis skills. Strong communication skills, both written and spoken, with business and development teams. Solution-oriented and customer-focused mindset. Ability to abstract and structure complex information. Comfortable switching between different business contexts.

Able to integrate easily into an existing team and support junior colleagues. Familiar with Agile/Scrum ways of working. Able to understand and use technical language for functional analysis, including APIs, mappings, business models, batches and services. Experience in gathering needs directly with users or business stakeholders.

Skills: Agile/Scrum, BPMN, Confluence, Customer journey, Functional Analysis (UML), SQL, Test Analysis & Design, UML, User stories writing.

Technical environment: You will work in a broad application landscape based on established technologies such as J2EE, Java 8, Oracle, Hibernate, JUnit, Selenium, Maven, Git and Jira. The role itself is not hands-on technical, but it does require enough technical understanding to perform solid functional analyses and interact efficiently with development teams.

Languages: French or Dutch: active knowledge, including speaking, understanding, reading and writing technical documentation, in at least one of the two languages.

English: active written knowledge, especially for documentation. Knowledge of the second national language is an asset. Due to the nature of the activities, Belgian nationality is required.
