As an Engineer in the petrochemical sector, you play a leading role in the design, development and improvement of a plant and you work closely together on the largest projects. Together with a team of experts, you will provide efficient and sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards.
Responsibilities: Instrument & Control Engineering Assurance: Act as the discipline focal point, ensuring instrumentation, control and safeguarding systems are installed, tested, commissioned and operated in accordance with applicable IEC, ISA, API, ISO, project, vendor and site requirements. Review specifications, drawings, calculations, logic, datasheets and vendor documentation. Identify functional safety, reliability and operability risks, maintain accurate technical records, and support SAP and related systems UAT, including asset master data.
CSU / Commissioning / Start-Up Support: Support CSU and Interim WoW teams with calibration, loop checking, functional and performance testing of instruments, control valves, analysers, DCS, PLC, SIS and ESD systems. Verify Cause & Effect, control logic, permissives, alarms, trips and safety instrumented functions. Review procedures, test results and acceptance criteria; provide engineering recommendations and approvals as applicable. Verify execution against approved scopes, resolve punch items and support RFSU/RFO decisions and Project/EPC handover, ensuring documentation, configuration data, maintenance requirements, asset information and outstanding actions are complete.
Instrument & Control Troubleshooting and Reliability: Provide technical support for instrument, control and safeguarding performance, addressing measurement errors, calibration drift, unstable control loops, valve/positioner faults, communication failures and spurious alarms or trips. Investigate failures and process safety concerns through RCA, failure-mode analysis and bad-actor management. Develop and optimise instrumentation, control and SIS maintenance strategies, condition monitoring and reliability improvements with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering.
Two-Year Spare Parts Process: Validate SPIL data, equipment identification, OEM information and spare-part specifications, suitability, criticality, quantities, stock levels and interchangeability. Identify critical, long-lead and obsolete spares; optimise commonality and inventory against maintenance needs. Review supplier recommendations, certifications, technical queries and deviations to ensure compatibility with installed instrumentation and control systems.
Services & Contracts – End-to-End Process: Develop technical scopes, inspection requirements and acceptance criteria. Evaluate vendor proposals, competence, qualifications and deviations, supporting supplier selection and mobilisation of suitable resources. Provide technical oversight of execution, deliverables, quality and service performance. Support contractor reviews, resolution of technical gaps, improvement actions and contract close-out.
Engineering Assurance Framework Support: Support engineering standards, procedures, technical authority requirements, supplier assurance and Management of Change. Respond to Technical Queries and assess deviations, recommending acceptance, rejection or mitigation. Identify gaps against standards, project requirements, functional safety and operational needs. Support competency requirements, audits and assurance reviews, and follow up corrective actions to ensure instrumentation, control and safeguarding risks are managed and closed.
