Medior Java developer

Outtask is recruiting a Medior Java Developer for a leading organisation in the banking and financial services sector. The role involves building reliable digital services that make financial experiences seamless and relevant. You will join a compact development team with direct communication, valued ideas, and real ownership. The challenge is to develop robust, scalable services in a complex microservices environment while deepening technical expertise.

Working from the Amsterdam area in a hybrid setup, you will contribute to the design, testing, deployment and continuous improvement of critical applications.

Responsibilities include: developing and maintaining microservices and REST APIs using Java 21 and Spring Boot; implementing event-driven communication using Azure Event Hub and Kafka; deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes, including AKS; writing automated tests with Testcontainers, WireMock, Mockito and MockMvc; applying hexagonal architecture, SOLID principles and domain-driven design; contributing to infrastructure as code using Terraform; investigating issues involving communication, consistency, message ordering, retries, dead-letter queues and idempotency; and contributing to monitoring, deployment and rollback strategies within a team of six to eight developers.

The ideal candidate has bachelor’s or master’s-level thinking and several years of experience as a Java Developer at medior level, professional experience with Java, Spring Boot and REST APIs, an affinity with event-driven systems such as Kafka and Azure Event Hub, knowledge of or genuine interest in Kubernetes and AKS, microservices architecture, deployments and rollback strategies, curiosity about technical details such as Kafka serialisation, the ability to work independently while collaborating in a small team, and the right to work in the Netherlands or the EU (visa sponsorship is not available).

Outtask offers a salary of €4,000 - €5,500 per month with good secondary benefits, flexibility, personal coaching, a quarterly bonus based on hours worked, a mobility allowance or lease car, and the possibility to work from home.
