Lead Enterprise Architect – Amsterdam, 3 maanden, 36 uren per week, start 19 oktober 2026, hybride. For our client Equigy, we are looking for a Lead Enterprise Architect. This assignment is suitable for an independent contractor (ZZP). Applications can be submitted until 8 October, 12:00 PM. Equigy Platform Resilience, Architecture and Governance Enhancement Program: Following recent operational events, Equigy has initiated a program to strengthen the architecture, resilience, and technical governance of its flexibility platform.
The programme aims to ensure that the platform remains fit for future growth, evolving business needs, onboarding of additional TSOs and market participants, and changing market requirements. Architectural foundations, governance frameworks, platform capabilities, and supporting practices will be further developed and enhanced to support the long-term sustainability, reliability, scalability, and evolution of the Equigy platform. The objective of the sub-assignment is to provide architectural advisory, technical governance, and platform design services in support of the Equigy Platform Resilience, Architecture and Governance Enhancement Programme.
In particular, the following activities will be carried out: Architecture Leadership: Provide guidance regarding the definition and maintenance of target architecture; Support with defining and governing application, integration, infrastructure, security, and data architecture standards; Support the development of architecture roadmaps aligned with Equigy’s strategic objectives; Validate consistency between solution designs and enterprise architecture principles; Review solution designs and architectural decisions, and provide recommendations regarding the adoption of technical standards.
Platform & Cloud Architecture: Support with designing scalable cloud-native solutions based on Kubernetes, containerized workloads, APIs, event-driven architectures, and modern integration patterns; Support with defining architecture patterns for high availability, disaster recovery, resilience, observability, and operational support; Recommend and support adoption of modern platform technologies including service mesh, API management, identity federation, event streaming, and Infrastructure as Code; Support platform isolation, security zoning, and compliance with security-by-design principles and zero-trust architecture.
Integration Architecture: Facilitate the design of integrations between Equigy and external TSO environments; Support with definition of API specifications, integration patterns, messaging standards, and security requirements; Support onboarding of new TSOs and market participants through architecture assessments and gap analyses; Provide guidance on interoperability with existing energy market platforms and external service providers.
Data & Information Architecture: Assist with defining data ownership, data lifecycle management, and information exchange principles; Support with governing architecture decisions related to operational, analytical, and regulatory data; Validate compliance with data protection and retention requirements; Support implementation of reporting, monitoring, auditability, and traceability requirements.
Security Architecture: Work closely with security and compliance stakeholders to ensure that security requirements are embedded into solution designs; Provide input with defining authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets management, and certificate management approaches; Validate compliance and alignment with NIS2, ISO27001, and applicable energy-sector regulations; Participate in security risk assessments and architecture reviews.
Stakeholder Management: Provide architectural support and guidance to TSOs, implementation partners, vendors and internal delivery teams; Facilitate architecture workshops and technical design sessions; Assist with translating business and regulatory requirements into solution architectures; Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development and DevOps teams.
Governance & Assurance: Support architecture review boards and design authority activities; Guidance on maintaining architecture documentation, decision records, standards, and reference architectures; Assistance with performing architecture assessments and gap analyses for new initiatives; Provide guidance on ensuring solutions are operationally supportable and aligned with service management requirements.
Innovation & Strategic Development: Monitor technological developments relevant to Equigy and the energy sector; Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where beneficial; Contribute to strategic planning, whitepapers, and innovation initiatives; Support the evolution of flexibility markets, distributed energy resources, and digital energy ecosystems.

Preferences: Previous experience with energy-sector platforms, TSOs, flexibility markets, or other missioncritical digital environments; Experience working in multi-stakeholder and multi-country technology programmes; Familiarity with regulatory, security, and operational requirements applicable to critical digital platforms. The current sub-assignment is expected to continue until 31 December 2026 may be extended, subject to project requirements, continued need for the agreed deliverables, and mutual agreement between the parties.
The estimated effort, based on the agreed project deliverables and milestones, is currently approximately 4.5 days per week. The required level of engagement may vary depending on project needs and may increase up to full-time capacity where necessary.
