Lead Instrumentation Engineer

As an Engineer in the petrochemical sector, you play a leading role in the design, development and improvement of a plant and you work closely together on the largest projects. Together with a team of experts, you will provide efficient and sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards.

Responsibilities: Responsible for the instrumentation engineering design in the study, feasibility, basic engineering and detailed engineering phases of the project. Perform and lead instrumentation engineering design tasks according to the agreed quality, scope, time and safety. Participate in project meetings and ensure that the instrumentation engineering design is according to the standards. Contribute to the project basis of design in all phases.

Responsible for field instrumentation engineering and related tasks for field instruments and valves. Prepare the instrumentation engineering deliverable list for the project. Prepare the project cost estimate for instrumentation engineering scope of work. Define the scope of work for the outsourced instrumentation engineering works. Supervise outsourced engineering work and check relevant documents and specifications submitted. Responsible for the quality of the outsourced instrumentation engineering works.

Attend and witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for critical equipment and packages. Provide technical support to maintenance and operation with regards to instrumentation engineering. Interact and cooperate with other engineering disciplines and specialists like operating personnel, maintenance personnel, plant HSE personnel, vendors, and contractors/specialists. Participate in commissioning and plant startup activities.

Responsible for project closure activities related to instrumentation engineering. Maintain and contribute professional knowledge related to instrumentation engineering tools.

Requirements: Master or Bachelor Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Instrumentation Engineering; Minimum 15 years experience in working with EPC/EPCM companies for instrumentation engineering and design. Working within the fence of oil&gas production companies is a big plus. Minimum 5 years experience working as a Lead for his/her own projects including leading other instrumentation engineers. Experience with DCS, PLC, Safety Instrumentation Systems, Fire & Gas safety systems.

VCA-VOL certified. Experience in reverse engineering projects. Experience in plant turnaround (TA) projects, capital projects, and BAU support. Knowledge of relevant tools like SmartPlant Instrumentation. Knowledge of project preparation and project reviews. Ability to work under pressure during plant shutdowns or urgent troubleshooting.
