Volledige omschrijving

The role is office-based: candidates are expected to work from the office at least 4 days per week, with remote work limited to 1 day per week. As a System Engineer at ILIAS Solutions, you take ownership of the infrastructure behind the international organization. This is an internal IT position: you support the people who build, deliver, implement and support the ILIAS Defense Platform. You work across Linux systems, hybrid infrastructure and automation.

Alongside day-to-day operations, you look for patterns where recurring work can be automated, configurations can become more consistent and documentation can be improved. The goal is to move infrastructure from reactive support towards a structured, automated and predictable engineering environment. ILIAS develops software for demanding defense and security environments. Your impact is internal but reaches across the organization. Tasks include managing and improving internal server infrastructure, taking ownership of Linux system administration (installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, performance), using Ansible for automation, maintaining Linux and Windows Server environments across VMware, Azure and on-premises, investigating complex issues, contributing to documentation, monitoring, backup routines, and supporting secure access.

Requirements include proven experience as a Linux System Administrator or System Engineer, strong hands-on expertise in Linux, solid experience with Ansible, good knowledge of Azure, knowledge of VMware and Windows Server, a security-minded approach, strong analytical thinking, predictable and transparent working, maturity to take ownership, a degree in IT or equivalent, and at least C1 level in Dutch and English. ILIAS offers growth in a mission-driven environment with practical learning and clear growth paths.
