Machine Learning Engineer

KLM is looking for a Medior/Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Blue AI team within KLM Operations. You will work with ML Engineers, Data Scientists and Product Owners to turn ML and GenAI solutions into reliable, scalable and production-ready products. The solutions support critical operational processes such as flight operations, workforce planning, meal planning and delay optimization.

What you will do: Build, deploy and maintain production-grade ML solutions; design and maintain end-to-end ML pipelines, from data preparation and training to deployment, monitoring and retraining; productionize ML models developed by Data Scientists and integrate them into operational systems; build and improve scalable ML infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP); develop and maintain reliable data pipelines in collaboration with Data Engineers; develop and deploy LLM and RAG solutions for production use; apply strong software engineering practices, including clean code, testing, Git, CI/CD and code reviews; monitor and improve the performance, reliability, scalability and maintainability of ML solutions; collaborate closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Product Owners to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.

What you bring: 4+ years of relevant professional experience in ML Engineering, Software Development, MLOps or a related field; strong Python and software engineering skills; proven experience building, deploying and maintaining ML models in production; experience with ML pipelines and MLOps; experience with cloud-based ML solutions, preferably GCP; hands-on experience with LLMs and RAG, preferably in production environments; experience with Docker, SQL, REST APIs and Terraform; experience with data pipelines and large-scale data processing; strong collaboration skills and experience working with Data Scientists and Data Engineers; a proactive, analytical mindset and the ability to translate business requirements into practical engineering solutions.

Team & working environment: You will join the Blue AI team, consisting of ML Engineers, Data Scientists and Product Owners. The team is part of KLM's Data, OR & AI department. The role is hybrid, with approximately 1–2 days per week at KLM's office at Schiphol East. Startdatum op 1 november. Solliciteer voor 30 september.
