Mainframe Developer – COBOL & CICS

Our client, a leading organization in the insurance sector, is seeking a Mainframe Developer to support their core policy management systems. The role involves performing technical analysis, development, and testing within an agile environment to maintain and improve applications for insurance policies, claims, and finance.

Responsibilities: Execute technical analysis and qualitative development for mainframe applications. Develop software using COBOL V5 on IBM z/OS platforms. Perform component testing, bug fixing, and provide second and third-line support. Translate business requirements into technical solutions while adhering to quality and architectural guidelines. Document developed software and ensure technical components are optimized for reuse. Collaborate actively within an agile team to deliver high-quality increments during sprints.

Requirements: 5+ years of experience in COBOL programming. Experience with IBM Mainframe systems and z/OS environments using CICS and VSAM. Knowledge of Batch processing, JCL, and SDSF. Proficiency in RDz for development and analysis. Accurate, solution-oriented, hands-on mentality. Communicative team player who takes ownership within a sprint-based environment. Fluent in Dutch and English with basic knowledge of French.

Nice to Haves: Knowledge of the insurance domain. Experience with or willingness to learn Agentic Coding.

Offer: Start date ASAP, duration 1 year+, full-time, hybrid (minimum 2 days per week onsite), contract open to both permanent employees and freelancers.
