Maintenance Engineer

A leading organization in the life sciences and regulated manufacturing sector is expanding its technical operations team in the North of the Netherlands. The site is modern, highly regulated, and focused on keeping production and facility infrastructure safe, compliant, and reliably available. The environment is international and fast-paced, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement. For an on-site project in Groningen, we are looking for a Maintenance Engineer.

This role focuses on supporting and improving site maintenance and facility engineering activities, ensuring technical availability, reliability, and compliance. The Maintenance Engineer works closely with local stakeholders to keep equipment and building services running smoothly and to resolve operational issues quickly and structurally.

Responsibilities: Support day-to-day facilities and maintenance engineering activities on-site. Coordinate and follow up on maintenance-related issues, prioritizing impact on operations, safety, and compliance. Drive root-cause investigations for recurring breakdowns and propose sustainable improvements. Align with internal stakeholders and external service providers to plan and execute maintenance work. Support documentation, reporting, and process improvements linked to maintenance and facility performance.

Contribute to standardization and continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering/maintenance domain. Communicate clearly with cross-functional teams in an international working environment.

Requirements: Strong engineering background with experience in facilities and/or maintenance within an industrial environment. Must be able to work full-time on-site in Groningen. Excellent communication skills in English (mandatory) and Dutch (mandatory). Hands-on mindset with strong problem-solving skills and stakeholder management. Preference for candidates available as employees rather than freelancers (unless the fit is exceptional).
