Johnson & Johnson is looking for a Manager Maintenance Utilities for the site in Leiden, with occasional travel to the Sassenheim site.
The contract runs for 18–24 months starting December 1, 2026, at 40 hours per week.
Imagine your next project: Lead a dedicated multidisciplinary maintenance team and drive operational excellence and long-term asset maturity in a cutting-edge GMP manufacturing environment. The role is in the team of the GET Maintenance Department of over 80 FTE in Leiden, where you play a crucial role as the manager of the multidisciplinary team that improves, defines, and executes preventive and corrective maintenance of mainly utilities like HVAC, WFI, and steam.
The team consists of 8 maintenance engineers and 7 technicians. The 2 main contracts of equivalent size as your own team are also within your responsibility.
Roles and responsibilities: Managing industrial utilities maintenance (mainly HVAC, WFI, steam), ensuring strict GMP standards for both corrective and preventative work. Driving team maturity by improving process adherence, documentation routines, status tracking, and deviation follow-up. Balancing hands-on technical support with strategic leadership. Overseeing an internal team of 15 staff members (8 maintenance engineers and 7 calibration technicians) along with two major external contractor teams of equivalent size.
Shaping, motivating, developing, and guiding a professional service-oriented team to ensure and improve equipment reliability in the short and long term. Balancing different priorities and managing stakeholders to achieve excellence. Working closely with the rest of the maintenance department and collaborating frequently with outside departments, including production. Handling daily operational responsibilities while stepping out to enable long-term goals, ensuring the right people are in the right place, gradually improving performance and processes, and working on the 5-year plan.
How to succeed: Bachelor’s degree or comparable thinking level in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical engineering. Over 10 years of experience working in Maintenance. Good understanding of Asset Management principles and processes. At minimum 5 years of experience in a comparable role with a proven track record. Experience with Utilities maintenance. At minimum 5 years of experience in a GMP product manufacturing plant environment.
