This freelance assignment is for a Naval Architect – Structural & Outfitting to work on a 100-metre offshore wind installation vessel. The work location is the Rotterdam area in the Netherlands, on-site, 40 hours per week. Start is ASAP, with a duration of at least six months and the possibility of extension. The contract is a freelance assignment and the working language is English. The focus is on 2D AutoCAD basic engineering and class drawing packages, structural and outfitting drawings, and production support.

As a Naval Architect - Structural & Outfitting, you will prepare 2D AutoCAD drawings and investigate practical questions on board the vessel. You will work from the shipyard's office, supporting engineering and production. The main focus is preparing basic engineering drawings and completing 2D class drawing packages. The scope also includes outfitting and foundation drawings, with regular visits on board to check the actual situation and clarify practical details.

Your responsibilities include: preparing basic engineering drawings in 2D AutoCAD and compiling drawing packages for classification; producing foundation drawings and sketches to support production; preparing outfitting drawings for stairs, ladders, platforms, railings, manholes, and hatches; answering practical questions from production and clarifying drawing details; visiting the vessel regularly to inspect and assess situations on board; and coordinating proactively with production and engineering colleagues to keep drawings aligned with practical needs.

The profile requires a background in naval architecture with a focus on ship structures, experience preparing shipbuilding drawings including basic engineering and class drawing packages, the ability to work independently in 2D AutoCAD and ShipConstructor, practical knowledge of ship outfitting and foundation drawings, willingness to go on board regularly to investigate technical questions, and clear communication in English with a proactive approach to coordination with production.
