Our client is an international, innovation-driven organization with a strong focus on research and development. The business operates in a regulated environment and works with cross-functional teams across multiple regions to develop, validate, and improve packaging solutions. Collaboration, quality, and consumer safety are central to everything they do. For our client, we are looking for a Packaging Compliance Specialist to strengthen the packaging food contact compliance capability within an R&D environment.

The Packaging Compliance & Specifications Specialist supports global stakeholders by ensuring packaging materials and related documentation meet internal standards and applicable regulations, helping to safeguard product and consumer safety. This role is based in Wageningen and works closely with packaging development, quality, regulatory, procurement, and supplier management teams.

Responsibilities: Review, assess, and finalise packaging compliance documentation in line with internal standards and regulatory requirements. Advise and support project teams and stakeholders on packaging compliance topics during development and change activities. Respond to packaging and food safety/compliance questions from internal stakeholders and external customers. Assess packaging materials against relevant compliance requirements (including substances of concern and market-specific rules) and document outcomes clearly.

Maintain and improve global packaging compliance data and documentation, supporting consistent ways of working. Support compliance checks related to Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and contribute to PPWR-focused initiatives. Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement within the compliance function.

Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Material Science, Chemistry, Packaging, Food Science/Technology, or similar). Several years of relevant experience in food contact materials regulation and packaging compliance. Strong knowledge of European packaging and food contact legislation; familiarity with PPWR is a plus. Experience with compliance and risk assessments and managing technical/compliance documentation (e.g., Declarations of Compliance).

Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders in an international environment; strong communication skills and fluent English. Experience with specification management systems (SAP PLM is an advantage). Proactive, accurate, analytical, and hands-on working style.
