Packaging Laboratory Specialist

We are looking for a Packaging Laboratory Specialist to support a busy R&D environment by running packaging tests and keeping the packaging laboratory operating smoothly.

The Packaging Laboratory Specialist works closely with packaging developers, production sites, quality teams, and external partners to set up and execute tests on a wide range of packaging materials, ensuring accurate data and reliable reporting.

Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day activities in the packaging laboratory to ensure smooth and efficient operations; Prepare, set up, and execute packaging material tests in line with agreed test plans; Align with packaging developers on what needs to be tested and confirm requirements before starting; Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment and support basic troubleshooting when issues occur; Record results clearly and accurately, ensuring high-quality data and traceable documentation; Work according to quality procedures and contribute to continuous improvement of lab ways of working; Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external parties to keep testing timelines on track.

Requirements: Hands-on experience with laboratory testing methods and working with lab equipment; Affinity with packaging materials and an interest in packaging innovation; Ability to work accurately with data and documentation in a structured, quality-focused environment; Practical, proactive mindset and the ability to work in a dynamic setting; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Material Science, Technical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience); Good English communication skills (Dutch is an advantage); Temporary Full-Time Contract.

Other Information: The role is based on-site in Wageningen and involves working closely with an international R&D community. The team environment is collaborative and focused on delivering consistent, high-quality testing results that enable packaging development and improvement.
