Omschrijving
We are supporting a global offshore engineering and construction company with a strong presence in deepwater and subsea developments worldwide. Due to continued project growth, they are seeking a Principal Subsea Umbilical & Controls Engineer to provide technical leadership across FEED, detailed design and EPCI projects. The role involves leading the engineering, design and delivery of subsea umbilical and controls systems for offshore development projects, supporting Concept, FEED, Detailed Design, Tendering and EPCI project execution activities, and developing and reviewing engineering deliverables including Design Basis, Technical Specifications, Engineering Reports, Procedures, Data Sheets and Technical Evaluations. The engineer will define and specify subsea umbilical systems and associated hardware, evaluate vendor proposals and recommend suitable technical solutions, and manage interfaces between Subsea Controls Systems, Umbilicals, SSIV Actuators, Subsea Production Equipment and Installation Contractors. Responsibilities include coordinating engineering activities with Procurement, Quality, Fabrication, Marine and Project Management teams, reviewing supplier documentation, manufacturing processes and qualification activities, supporting technical risk assessments and technology readiness evaluations, participating in HAZID, HAZOP, design reviews and technical workshops, and providing engineering support during manufacturing, testing, transportation, installation and offshore commissioning. The role also involves identifying project risks and implementing mitigation strategies, supporting troubleshooting and technical issue resolution, participating in client meetings, vendor meetings, audits and offshore site visits, and ensuring deliverables are completed safely, on schedule and within budget. Leadership responsibilities include leading and supervising small to medium-sized subsea engineering teams, managing project scope, deliverables, manpower requirements and schedules, acting as discipline focal point for client and project stakeholders, coordinating multidisciplinary activities, supporting bid preparations, technical proposals and manpower estimates, monitoring engineering performance, progress and productivity, mentoring and developing junior engineers and designers, and ensuring compliance with company procedures, client specifications and industry standards. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced Principal Subsea Umbilical & Controls Engineer with extensive deepwater project experience, strong vendor management expertise and the ability to lead subsea engineering activities throughout the full project lifecycle from concept selection through offshore installation and commissioning. Essential skills include a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's Degree advantageous), 15-20 years of experience within the Offshore Oil & Gas industry, strong experience in subsea umbilical systems, controls engineering and subsea production developments, proven experience in FEED, detailed design and EPCI project execution, extensive knowledge of subsea umbilical design, procurement and installation, experience managing vendor packages and subsea equipment suppliers, strong understanding of subsea control systems, SSIV actuators and subsea production interfaces, familiarity with API, DNV, ISO and other relevant industry standards, and previous experience leading engineering teams and multidisciplinary project execution. Preferred experience includes deepwater field developments, SURF projects, subsea controls systems, umbilical manufacturing & qualification, offshore installation & commissioning, and major EPCI contractors, subsea contractors or offshore operators.
