Omschrijving

A large financial organization in Amsterdam is looking for an experienced Product Owner to lead two development teams. The primary focus is a team delivering backend services that power high-traffic digital customer channels. These services are essential to the stability, performance, scalability, and continuous improvement of the organization’s digital ecosystem. The digital channels, including mobile and online platforms, support millions of customer interactions. The role involves strengthening shared platform capabilities to enable teams to deliver new functionality faster and more efficiently. As Product Owner, you define and communicate product priorities, maximize team value, and ensure alignment between business objectives, technology strategy, and execution. Responsibilities include taking ownership of product vision, strategy, roadmap, and backlog for two teams; guiding the primary team from a legacy-focused scope towards strategic platform development; translating business and technology objectives into clear priorities; managing and prioritizing the backlog using the epic–episode–saga structure; balancing strategic development with operational stability; working closely with engineers, architects, and business representatives; making transparent prioritization decisions; managing dependencies; monitoring delivery progress; and encouraging reusable platform components. Key results include team repositioning within six months, establishing an agreed team mission and product scope within three months, creating a product roadmap, increasing capacity for new platform components, maintaining a transparent and aligned backlog, ensuring at least 90% of committed high-priority items are delivered, and implementing a stakeholder-management approach within two months. Requirements: at least two years of Product Owner experience in Agile software development, demonstrable experience with digital customer channels, experience managing and prioritizing backlogs for software-engineering teams, experience with technical stakeholders and backend/platform teams, strong decision-making, communication, stakeholder-management skills, product mindset, analytical approach, ability to challenge assumptions, and excellent English. Preferred qualifications: large-scale digital environments, financial services or regulated industry, platform teams or developer-enablement, relevant certifications. This is a secondment opportunity within a complex large-scale digital environment.
