Reliability Engineer

A leading organization in the manufacturing sector dedicated to maintaining high standards of operational excellence. The Maintenance and Reliability Engineer will play a key role in advancing the maintenance and asset management practices within the organization. Based in Groningen, this position offers the opportunity to lead initiatives that improve equipment reliability, develop robust maintenance strategies, and contribute to the company’s goal of operational excellence.

Responsibilities include: conducting in-depth investigations into technical issues, analyzing root causes of machine failures; assessing equipment and material failures to determine the most effective repair, maintenance, or improvement actions; developing and refining maintenance plans and solutions to increase equipment availability; organizing and managing spare parts inventory, ensuring smooth operational continuity; creating clear and detailed work instructions for operators and maintenance teams; analyzing breakdowns to identify whether issues are electrical, mechanical, or a combination of both and determine appropriate solutions; collaborating closely with Engineering, R&D, and cross-functional teams to implement maintenance improvements; supporting the implementation of an inventory management system for spare parts; developing and optimizing preventive maintenance strategies in cooperation with relevant departments; applying maintenance methodologies such as RCA, FMECA, and Life Cycle Costing; monitoring machine performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvements; leading and participating in continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing equipment reliability; contributing to developing troubleshooting guides and other technical documentation.

Requirements: completed technical college education; 3–5 years of relevant experience in maintenance, reliability, or a similar field; strong background in maintenance engineering and asset management within a manufacturing environment; fluent in Dutch (mandatory) and English; knowledge of maintenance methodologies such as RCA, FMECA, and Life Cycle Costing; analytical mindset with structured problem-solving skills; proactive, collaborative, and able to work independently; willingness to work full-time onsite in Groningen.
