Our client, a prominent organization in the media sector, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join their digital product division. The role involves designing and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend services to support a wide range of digital platforms and applications.
Responsibilities: Design and implement scalable backend components and APIs within an event-based architecture. Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams to translate product requirements into robust technical solutions. Maintain high standards for code quality, observability, and operational excellence across all services. Manage the end-to-end development lifecycle from initial analysis to production monitoring and support. Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks to ensure stable deployments.
Coach team members and drive the adoption of engineering best practices within the development team.
Requirements: 8+ years of experience in backend engineering and Java development. 5+ years of experience with Node.js and TypeScript. 5+ years working with event-based architectures, API design, and integration patterns. 5+ years of experience in Agile product environments and technical consultancy. You possess strong expertise in coding, testing, and debugging complex backend systems. You bring experience in leading development teams and mentoring other engineers.
You are fluent in Dutch at level C2.

Work regime: Full-time.
Location: Brussels.
Working model: Hybrid (minimum 2 days onsite per week).
