The company: A leading international life sciences organisation focused on innovative research and the development of advanced therapies. The organisation operates in a highly regulated laboratory and research environment, with a strong focus on employee safety, chemical compliance, quality, and operational excellence.

Role Description: As a Senior Chemical Safety & EHS Consultant, you will support the Lab Safety function in strengthening chemical inventory management, chemical information systems, laboratory safety, and chemical-storage compliance. This is a hands-on consulting assignment where you will assess and improve chemical data, identify regulatory and safety gaps, implement corrective actions, support audit remediation, and establish sustainable processes for ongoing chemical management.

You will work closely with Laboratory, EHS, Facility, Lab Operations, Quality, IT, system owners, and external vendors to deliver practical improvements and ensure effective knowledge transfer at the end of the assignment.

Responsibilities: validating and improving chemical inventory and SDS data in systems such as LabVantage and ChemWatch; managing and assessing CMR/ZZS substances, chemical classification, and hazardous chemical data; assessing chemical storage against ADR and PGS 15 requirements; reviewing chemical compatibility, segregation, quantities, and labelling; supporting audit findings, compliance assessments, gap analyses, and CAPA activities; developing and updating SOPs, procedures, templates, and training materials; improving chemical safety processes and data governance; collaborating with Laboratory, EHS, Facility, Quality, IT, and external vendors; ensuring effective knowledge transfer and handover at the end of the assignment.

Requirements: a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Chemistry, Laboratory Sciences, EHS, or a related field; 5+ years of relevant experience in chemical safety, EHS, laboratory safety, or chemical inventory management; HVK, Arbeidshygiënist, or equivalent qualification is strongly preferred; strong knowledge of SDS, CMR/ZZS, ADR, PGS 15, GHS/CLP, and hazardous chemical storage; experience with LabVantage, ChemWatch, SAP EHS, CISPro, or similar systems is highly desirable; experience in pharma, biotech, life sciences, chemical, laboratory, or R&D environments; strong stakeholder management and project coordination skills; fluent in Dutch and English.
