Senior Engineer Secrets Management

Practical details: ASAP - 01 March 2027 (possible extension), hours per week 32 hours, Freelance/ZZP, language English, rate €70 - €85.

Role Summary: We are seeking a hands-on Senior Engineer Secrets Management to build, deploy, and operate the underlying technical infrastructure and capability tracks for an enterprise evaluation across both IBM Vault and OpenBao. You will set up the container execution environment, engineer base capabilities, and build out twelve end-to-end integration use cases.

Key Responsibilities & Scope: Build and operate both product tracks: installation, capability enablement, the four base capabilities, and the OpenBao capability assessment across all twelve target use cases. Build, configure, and maintain the Podman container platform: host setup, Podman and podman-compose, systemd services, SELinux policies, networking, TLS configuration, backup and restore, and monitoring/alerting. Implement and deliver the twelve technical use-case integrations and all required authentication work, including Azure integrations and KeyVault alignment, Oracle database credential rotation, MCPaaS container platform connectivity, Symantec security integration, and deployment and testing of agents on private-cloud virtual machines.

Ensure high availability, security hardening, and operational continuity across both test and evaluation tracks.

Required Skills & Experience: Strong hands-on engineering experience in enterprise secrets management tooling (e.g., Vault solutions, OpenBao).

Deep Linux engineering expertise: Podman, podman-compose, systemd, SELinux, networking, and TLS certificates. Practical experience delivering identity, authentication, and secret rotation integrations across cloud and on-prem systems (Azure, Oracle, LDAP, SSH, API keys, VM agents). Experience with containerized platforms (MCPaaS / modern container runtimes).

Location: Based in a nearshore location within the EEA (EU/EEA compliance). Fluent proficiency in English (verbal and written).
