Senior Front-End Technical Architect

The major Belgian insurer in Brussels is looking for a Senior Front-End Technical Architect with strong Angular and .NET expertise. The role involves defining and promoting front-end development standards, supporting delivery teams, driving technology lifecycle management, and helping industrialise web solutions. The architect will also coach and mentor developers as practices and technical maturity evolve, including AI-assisted development where it helps.

Responsibilities: Define and promote front-end development standards across delivery teams; design reusable components, patterns and frameworks for enterprise web applications; coach and mentor developers; raise technical maturity and continuous learning; drive technology lifecycle management, upgrades and technical-debt reduction; produce architecture documentation and present decisions to governance boards; assess risks, impacts and dependencies of technology changes; contribute to the industrialisation of front-end solutions, including AI-assisted practices where useful.

Business experience required: Technical Architect, Solution Architect or Senior Software Engineer in a complex enterprise environment (mid-level 2-5 years, mandatory); designing and implementing enterprise-grade web applications (mid-level 2-5 years, mandatory); insurance or financial domain (preferable); architecture board or similar governance body (preferable).

Functional experience required: translate business and functional requirements into sustainable technical architectures (mandatory); architecture documentation, technical recommendations and implementation guidelines (mandatory); assess impacts, risks and dependencies of technology changes (mandatory); lead PoCs and facilitate technical decision-making (preferable).

Technical experience required: Angular and modern front-end development practices (expert, mandatory); .NET / .NET Core ecosystems (mandatory); reusable components, patterns, frameworks and development standards (mandatory); web security and secure development practices (mandatory); performance optimisation, scalability and maintainability of web applications (mandatory); authentication and authorization (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML) (mandatory); design systems and UI component libraries (preferable); AI-assisted development tools (e.g.

Copilot / GenAI coding assistants) (preferable); CI/CD, DevOps and automated quality controls (preferable).

Language requirements: English (Good) is mandatory; Dutch or French (one fluent) is also required.

Soft skills: strong technical leadership and coaching; clear communication and presentation, including to architecture governance; pragmatic, solution-oriented and analytical; proactive, autonomous and effective in multidisciplinary teams.

Contract details: Start ASAP, duration 12 months, extension possible, location Brussels centre with typically 2 days per week at the office and remote/telework from Belgium only.
