Senior Frontend Engineer

Senior Java Engineer | Java 21 & Kafka | Mostly remote | Financial Enterprise. Want to work hands-on with Java 21 and Kafka on a platform that’s used worldwide? A leading financial enterprise is looking for a Senior Java Engineer to help build its next-generation frontend delivery service. You’ll join an English-speaking DevOps team that releases every two weeks, and you’ll only be in the office one day a week.

About the role: Your squad builds and runs the platform behind web components that are used across the organization worldwide. Right now the main job is migrating the frontend controller to Java. That puts you on the back end, but close to the front end. - Build and migrate services in Java 21 and Spring Boot, with Kafka at the core of the solution - Own what you build: monitor performance, capacity and availability with Elastic/Kibana, and take part in the 24/7 on-call rotation (roughly once every 4 to 8 weeks) - Become the team’s Security Champion and keep the product’s risk documentation up to date.

Tech stack: Java 21, Spring Boot, Kafka, REST APIs, Cassandra, SQL, Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, Boards, Artifacts), Maven, Elasticsearch and OpenShift/Kubernetes. You work mostly from home, with one fixed office day a week (Thursday). The team works in English, so you don’t need to speak Dutch. Who are you? - Hands-on experience with Java 21, including the Stream API and functional programming concepts - Experience with Kafka in an asynchronous, distributed environment - Experience building microservices with Spring Boot - Experience with Azure and Azure DevOps - Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, such as Cassandra - Knowledge of networking (DNS, HTTP) and security (TLS, PKI) - Fluent English.

There’s no fixed minimum number of years. What counts is solid, hands-on knowledge of modern Java. The first interview includes a live coding exercise.
