Senior Full-Stack Java / Angular Developer

We’re looking for a strong Senior Full-Stack Developer with solid Java, Angular and Python experience to join a long-term digital modernisation project in Brussels. The team is currently rewriting and modernising a number of legacy business applications, moving them towards a new architecture and more modern development standards. You’ll join a 6-person development team made up of developers, a business analyst and a project manager. What you’ll be doing: rewriting and modernising existing legacy applications; developing new functionality within a redesigned architecture; analysing existing applications and translating legacy behaviour into modern solutions; using Python to support and facilitate the migration and rewriting of legacy applications; developing robust back-end and front-end solutions; working with REST APIs and event-driven architectures; collaborating closely with analysts and the business to understand functional requirements; contributing to technical decisions and continuous improvements; working in an Agile environment with a well-structured backlog.

A key part of the challenge is understanding an existing and sometimes complex application landscape quickly, including functionality hidden in legacy batch processes.

Tech stack must-have: strong Java development experience; strong Angular experience (5+ years); Python required for the application modernisation/migration work; Spring Boot; REST / API-first development; Java EE / JSF knowledge; RabbitMQ / event-driven architecture; Keycloak; Agile experience.

The profile: technically strong, autonomous, able to get up to speed quickly, fast learner, autonomous and proactive, comfortable working in a team, open to feedback and different perspectives, pragmatic and solution-oriented, more interested in delivering quality solutions than taking a leadership role.

Practical details: Brussels hybrid, 2 days/week on-site; start ASAP; duration long-term; freelance full-time; languages French or Dutch + English; team day first Tuesday of each month.
