Role details: Start date: 2026-08-17, Duration: 12 months, Extension possible: Not specified, Estimated daily rate (EUR): 685 - 835, Education: Bachelor degree or equivalent, Location detail: Brussels (Montagne du Parc) - ~50% on site / 50% homeworking. Remote/telework from Belgium only.
About the role: A Brussels operations team at a major Belgian bank is hiring an OPS Security Engineer focused on firewall and proxy filtering services. The team manages firewall requests and configurations, resolves incidents, and implements secure solutions while ensuring compliance with group security rules and regulatory obligations. You work in an Agile environment across daily operations, projects and audit/recertification.
Responsibilities: Manage daily firewall flow requests; implement and optimise firewall rules; Resolve firewall-related incidents and document configurations against security policies; Participate in project teams with firewall technology expertise for design and delivery; Perform deep analyses for audits, flow recertifications and reporting with evidence; Work with security and network architecture teams on secure solutions and micro-segmentation.
Business experience: Agile methodology (Mandatory); Analysis and audit reporting (recertifications, evidence preparation) (Preferable).
Functional experience: Daily firewall flow request management and secure solution delivery (Mandatory).
Technical experience: Firewall environment (rules, policy optimisation, incident resolution) – Minimum 5 years (Mandatory); Firewalls, IPS/IDS and cloud micro-segmentation (Mandatory); Palo Alto or Fortinet platforms (Mandatory); ServiceNow (ITSM) and MS Excel automation (VBA, Python) for reporting (Mandatory); Security, networking and architecture principles (Mandatory); Certifications: PCNSA (Palo Alto), CompTIA Network+, CCNA (Preferable).
