Senior Project Manager – Biometric Identity Systems

Pauwels Consulting is recruiting a Senior Project Manager – Biometric Identity Systems for a leading organization in the public safety sector. The role focuses on coordinating internal and external application developments to enhance national identification capabilities through advanced physical characteristic data processing and platform integration. Responsibilities include coordinating the development, integration, and deployment of application solutions within a large-scale identity management program; supervising internal development teams and external service providers to ensure the delivery of forensic expertise modules; managing technical and functional dependencies between various integrated systems and existing national databases; ensuring interoperability between investigation management platforms and international reporting systems; collaborating with technical architects to maintain architectural standards and technological orientations throughout the project lifecycle; monitoring project milestones, consolidated schedules, and quality control processes for external procurement contracts; and producing periodic reporting and performance dashboards for stakeholders and program management.

Requirements: 8+ years of experience in project management and coordinating multi-stakeholder programs; 3+ years of experience with information systems architecture, business applications, and complex system integration; a solid background in Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies; experience with software lifecycle management including testing, validation, and software acceptance processes; proficiency in collaboration and management tools such as Jira, Open Project, and GitLab; the ability to lead heterogeneous teams and manage priorities in high-pressure environments; strong analytical skills and the capacity to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences; a proactive, solution-oriented attitude with strong leadership skills; and fluency in English with active knowledge of Dutch or French.

Nice to haves: previous experience working within the public safety or judicial sector; knowledge of service-oriented and event-driven architectures; and passive knowledge of French or Dutch.
