Senior Tech Lead – Java & Spring Boot

Our client, a prominent organization in the public social security sector, is seeking a highly experienced professional to join their cross-functional architecture team. The role focuses on providing technical leadership and driving the architectural evolution of large-scale digital systems.

Responsibilities include: providing technical leadership to the architecture team and mentoring development squads to foster continuous improvement; defining and evolving reference architectures while managing technological debt and long-term strategy; establishing SLI, SLO, and SLA frameworks and implementing monitoring strategies to ensure system reliability; collaborating with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical specifications for strategic projects; overseeing the implementation of security regulations and information management standards in alignment with infrastructure teams; and leading the architectural design and lifecycle management for backend migration projects toward modern technology stacks.

Requirements: 8+ years of experience in Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem; 8+ years of experience in technical leadership and team management; expertise in frontend development using TypeScript and Angular; strong background in architecture modeling using C4 or Archimate and DDD methodologies; proven experience with containerization and messaging tools including Docker, Kubernetes, and RabbitMQ; in-depth knowledge of security and API standards such as OAuth2, OIDC, OpenAPI, and AsyncAPI; experience with CI/CD pipelines, Maven, Gradle, and automated testing tools like TDD and Cypress; proficiency in Hibernate and system observability with OpenTelemetry; submission of a completed coding exercise response as part of the application process; and fluency in French with an active knowledge of English.

Nice to haves include experience within social security institutions or related public sector domains, a Certified Scrum Master or formal ICT project management training, and demonstrated success in migrating legacy systems to modern Spring architectures.

Offer: start date 2026-11-23, duration 14 months, full-time work regime, location Brussels, hybrid working model, and a contract open to both permanent employees and freelancers.
