Strategic Procurement Lead – Major CAPEX Construction Projects

We are looking for an experienced Strategic Procurement Lead to support the development and execution of major construction and industrial CAPEX projects. This is not a traditional Senior Buyer or Procurement Manager position. The successful candidate will bring substantial construction-project experience, ideally gained on projects valued at €500M or more, and will have played a direct role in shaping procurement and contracting strategies at project level.

The role involves working closely with Project Directors, Construction Managers, Engineering, EPC/EPCM partners, Legal and Finance, to help define how major construction scopes are structured, sourced, contracted and commercially managed. Responsibilities include developing project-level procurement and contracting strategies from the early stages, defining packaging strategies, sourcing models and appropriate commercial approaches, contributing to contractor selection and EPC/EPCM engagement strategies, establishing suitable risk-allocation principles and contractual frameworks, structuring and commercially managing multiple complex construction packages, supporting commercial and contract management throughout project execution, identifying and managing commercial, contractual and delivery risks, challenging project assumptions and influencing how the project is structured, working across project, construction, engineering, procurement, legal and finance functions, and managing senior-level relationships with major contractors and project partners.

The profile: candidates who can demonstrate senior experience in construction, infrastructure or industrial project environments, direct involvement in major CAPEX projects ideally valued at €500M+, early-stage responsibility for procurement, contracting, packaging or sourcing strategy, strong understanding of complex construction scopes and project delivery models, experience working with major contractors and EPC or EPCM partners, commercial and contract-management experience throughout the full project lifecycle, the ability to influence Project Directors and other senior project stakeholders, and a strategic, project-focused mindset that goes beyond executing an established procurement process.

Experience in one or more of the following sectors would be highly relevant: steel and metals, energy and renewables, oil and gas, chemicals and petrochemicals, mining, heavy industry, major infrastructure, data centers, large-scale industrial construction. Strong negotiation, tendering, contract-clause and multi-package management skills are expected at this level.
