Introduction

As a Strategic Project Planner, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of the 2GW Program within the Hitachi & L&T portfolio. Through your expertise in planning, scheduling, project controls and strategic analysis, you will contribute directly to the realization of large-scale offshore energy infrastructure that supports the energy transition.

About TenneT, the Unit, Department and Team

TenneT is a leading European Transmission System Operator (TSO) and plays a key role in the energy transition. With more than 23,500 kilometers of high-voltage connections and approximately 5,000 employees, TenneT ensures a secure and reliable electricity supply in the Netherlands and large parts of Germany.

You will be working within the Large Projects Offshore Netherlands organization, specifically within the Portfolio L&T H Project Management department. This department is responsible for managing and delivering complex offshore infrastructure projects that enable large-scale integration of renewable energy into the transmission network.

Within the department, you will support the 2GW Program within the Hitachi & L&T portfolio. You will work closely with project teams, contractors and portfolio stakeholders to establish transparency, predictability and strategic control over project schedules and delivery milestones.

The Role

How do you help keep the Netherlands powered?

As a Strategic Project Planner, you are responsible for monitoring, reviewing and integrating project schedules across the portfolio. You will provide strategic planning insights, assess program impacts, support claim management activities and contribute to the continued development of scheduling excellence within the organization.

Your responsibilities include:

• Reviewing and assessing Contractor Programmes against contractual requirements.

• Monitoring project progress and performing schedule deviation analyses.

• Supporting the development and implementation of mitigation and recovery measures together with project teams.

• Evaluating schedule deviations reported by contractors and assessing impacts on projects and the overall portfolio.

• Forecasting potential schedule shifts and evaluating impacts on key project delivery milestones.

• Supporting the preparation and substantiation of claim defense dossiers.

• Providing periodic planning reports, KPI dashboards and schedule scenario analyses.

• Acting as the primary point of contact for planning-related questions between contractors and project teams.

• Supporting the implementation, visualization and reporting of planning datasets using Microsoft Excel and Power BI.

• Contributing to the growth and implementation of the Scheduling Maturity Model (SMM) within the portfolio and wider organization.

• Supporting the development and continuous improvement of planning, scheduling and project control methodologies.

• Delivering strategic schedule analyses and management reports that support informed decision-making.

• Supporting risk managers by integrating planning data into project risk assessments and risk registers.

• Translating scheduling insights into strategic recommendations for project and executive management.

You will collaborate closely with project managers, contract managers, risk managers, project controls professionals, contractors and external stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency and effective schedule governance throughout the project lifecycle.

What Do You Bring?

Experience & Knowledge

• Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Engineering, Project Management or a comparable discipline.

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in project scheduling and planning, preferably within large and complex infrastructure projects.

• Proven experience with contract strategies and claim situations in project environments.

• Strong knowledge and practical experience with Oracle Primavera P6 (minimum 3 years).

• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Power BI is highly preferred.

• Knowledge of HVDC projects is considered a strong advantage.

• Experience within large-scale energy, infrastructure or engineering projects is preferred.

• Willingness to travel when required.

• Living in the Netherlands.

Important

• This position has a strong focus on strategic planning, schedule integration and portfolio-level analysis.

• Experience with contractor schedule reviews and project controls in complex project environments is highly valued.

• The successful candidate should be comfortable working with contractual schedules, delay analyses and claim-related matters.

• Experience in developing schedule-driven management reporting and decision support products is preferred.

• The working language within the project team is English.

Practical Information

Start date: ASAP

End date: 12 months

Hours per week: 32 - 40

Duty station: Arnhem (Rijnpoort)

Working model: Hybrid, with fixed office days on Monday and Tuesday in Arnhem.

Additional Information

• Suppliers are expected to comply with all applicable labor legislation and the applicable TenneT Collective Labour Agreement (CAO).

• This position falls within TenneT CAO Grade 8.

• Candidates with experience in large-scale energy transition projects will have a distinct advantage.

Screening Requirements

• A Pre-Employment Screening (PES) is mandatory before commencement and may take up to six weeks.

• The candidate may only start after successful completion of the screening process.

• A Certificate of Conduct (VOG) must be obtained prior to the start date.

• The candidate must possess a valid passport or identity card valid throughout the recruitment and assignment period.

Availability

• The candidate must be available for the full assignment period.

• Flexibility to support project and portfolio activities when required is expected.
