System Architect – IaaS Compute & Storage

The System Architect – IaaS Compute & Storage is responsible for owning the system architecture for infrastructure platforms, including virtualization, cluster design, SAN/NAS, and DRP constructs. The role defines and maintains architectural principles, guardrails, and standards aligned with enterprise and assurance expectations, develops the architectural runway to enable upcoming platform capabilities while managing technical debt and lifecycle constraints, guides and challenges solution designs proposed by teams, vendors, and integrators to ensure consistency across environments, leads architectural decisions regarding availability, resilience, performance, scalability, and security, and collaborates with stakeholders, including product management and security, to ensure architectures are operationally sound and auditable.

Requirements include 5+ years of experience in system architecture focusing on IaaS compute and storage platforms, professional expertise in storage and backup technologies such as NetApp, Cohesity, and Veritas NetBackup, comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure components including virtualization, SAN/NAS, DRP, and High-Performance Computing (HPC), deep understanding of Open Systems and infrastructure security, familiarity with Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines, strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, proactive and solution-oriented with strong stakeholder management abilities, and fluency in English.

Nice to haves include experience with large-scale datacenter renewal or automation initiatives and knowledge of architectural governance forums and decision documentation. The offer includes a start date of ASAP, a duration of 220 days, a full-time work regime, location in Mechelen, hybrid working model, and a contract open to both permanent employees and freelancers.
