System Architect Senior

As a Senior System Architect, you have over 5 years of experience in designing and implementing system architecture: you focus on building solutions or services right and are passionate about building new solutions with new technologies. You plan and develop the architectural runway of enablers in support of new business features and capabilities, working directly with Agile teams to implement them. You enable the continuous delivery pipeline through appropriate design guidelines and investment advocacy.

You work with portfolio stakeholders, notably the Enterprise Architect, to develop, analyze, split and realize the implementation of enabler epics. You participate in planning, definition and high-level design of the solution and exploration of solution alternatives. Next to proven experience in IT Architecture, you have the following core competences: Analytical thinking, Collaborating, Conceptual thinking, IT Infrastructure, IT Security, Problem solving, Process driven, Result driven, Tactical & strategic planning.

Detailed Job Description: Google Cloud Foundation Architect.

Context: We are planning on building a Google Cloud Foundation MVP, with the first use case being to enable the use of Google Gemini alongside existing AI platforms such as Microsoft Foundry and AWS Bedrock. The assignment includes establishing a future-proof Google Cloud Foundation, as well as migrating existing use cases. In the longer term, the platform should evolve into an enterprise-ready solution that enables future DevOps teams to be onboarded efficiently while adhering to the organization's standards, policies and governance requirements.

Role: You will play a key role in designing and/or implementing a Google Cloud Foundation that meets the organization's enterprise architecture, security and governance requirements. Depending on your profile, the focus may be on architecture, implementation, or a combination of both.

Responsibilities: Architecture & Platform Design: Design an enterprise-wide Google Cloud architecture aligned with organizational guidelines, standards and policies. Define a future-proof cloud foundation with, as the first use case, enabling the adoption of Google Gemini across the organization. Create architecture principles and design patterns to support future DevOps team onboarding. Provide guidance on governance, security and operational models.

Security & Governance: Develop a threat model.

Define governance standards covering: Encryption, Standards & Policies, Access management, Compliance requirements. Design security controls and integrate them with existing security processes.

Identity & Access Management: Design and implement IAM architectures.

Establish: RBAC model, Federated Identity, Least Privilege Access principles.

Operations & Monitoring: Implement logging, monitoring and observability capabilities. Integrate with existing SIEM platforms. Define operational processes for incident management and platform operations.

Cloud Management & FinOps: Define an engagement model with Google similar to the current operating models used with AWS and Azure. Establish cost tracking, showback/chargeback and cost management processes. Advise on cloud governance and lifecycle management.

Networking: Design and implement Google Cloud networking architectures.

Implementation: Automate platform components using Infrastructure as Code. Implement foundational services and security controls. Support the migration of existing workloads to the new platform.

Profile: Must-Have: Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in enterprise environments. Experience designing and implementing cloud foundations or landing zones. Strong knowledge of IAM, security, networking and cloud governance. Experience with Infrastructure as Code.

Technical Skills: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform, Python.

Nice-to-Have: Experience with AI platforms such as Google Gemini, Microsoft Foundry or AWS Bedrock. Experience in regulated industries or financial institutions. Understanding of FinOps practices. Desired Profile – Google Cloud Foundation Architect: Strong enterprise architecture background. Capable of defining and defending enterprise-grade cloud designs. Combines cloud architecture expertise with security, governance and operational excellence.

Able to guide implementation teams.
