Systems Test Engineer

Systems Test Engineer. You are a part of the Systems Engineering department in the Image Guided Therapy Systems – interventional applications R&D organization. We are a team of highly skilled people in the system design, system verification, usability and validation domain. We are located in Best, The Netherlands and in Bangalore, India and collaborate with other teams globally. We make sure our products exhibit an excellent user experience and support physicians to provide the best treatment in the most demanding conditions, from cardiovascular to oncological and neurological treatment.

You are responsible for: translating system requirements into well-defined, measurable (automated) test cases that comprehensively cover functionalities, interactions, and edge cases to ensure robust system verification, working under general supervision; developing system test scripts leveraging appropriate scripting languages and tools aligned with Philips' testing frameworks, which includes selecting the most effective tools and languages based on system complexity and test requirements; identifying potential system-level risks through threat modeling and system analysis and designing test scenarios to mitigate these risks, contributing to early defect detection and preventing critical issues from reaching later stages of the development process; executing a comprehensive suite of system tests (functional, integration, regression) following established test plans and procedures, which may involve manual testing, automation execution, or a combination of both depending on test complexity and efficiency needs; analyzing test results with a critical eye to identify defects, diagnosing root causes through systematic debugging techniques, and monitoring key progress indicators such as requirement coverage, test protocol effectiveness, test execution, and defect identification and closure; collaborating effectively with developers and other engineers to troubleshoot identified issues through clear communication, providing detailed information about identified defects, and working collaboratively to achieve efficient defect resolution; participating in system integration activities, observing available data to monitor progress, identify risk, and judge release readiness and quality, while providing valuable insights from a testing perspective; demonstrating flexibility and adaptability by adjusting test strategies based on system complexity and evolving requirements, creating new test cases, modifying existing ones, or prioritizing tests to ensure focus on critical functionalities; contributing to increased efficiency by supporting the creation of test automation frameworks for repetitive tasks, identifying suitable automation tools, developing reusable test scripts, and collaborating with colleagues to integrate automation into the overall testing process; maintaining a strong knowledge base by staying up to date with the latest system testing methodologies and tools relevant to Philips' products, as well as sharing knowledge and providing guidance to junior staff within your own team.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and: a Degree or equivalent in Engineering; experience with verification of medical device software, Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), healthcare technology or other regulated domains; experience with requirement-based verification, risk-based testing, system integration testing or release verification; experience with Behavior Driven Development, defect triage, test management systems and cross-functional engineering collaboration; experience with automation and AI.

We are embracing an approach wherein we spend more time together than apart. For our hybrid roles, this translates to an average of three days working from the office and two days from home for full-time employees. The role is for 1 year, starting Oct 1, 2026 and ending Sep 30, 2027. The payrate is 5000-6500 EUR per month. Application deadline is Oct 5, 2026.
