Are you an experienced QA professional with strong technical skills and a passion for improving engineering practices at scale? In this role, you will help strengthen testing quality across a large international financial organisation. Your primary focus will be contract-based testing with Specmatic. The initial rollout has already taken place; the next step is to solidify its use, establish reliable standards and help teams adopt the tool correctly and consistently. This is not a traditional testing role. You will not own the quality of a specific application or product. Instead, you will investigate technical challenges, identify the best solutions and demonstrate their effectiveness through proofs of concept. Your recommendations must be well considered, technically sound and suitable for use across a complex organisation. What you will do: improve testing quality and engineering practices across the organisation; drive the further adoption and professionalisation of contract-based testing; act as a technical specialist for Specmatic; investigate testing challenges and evaluate potential solutions; design and implement proofs of concept; develop standards, guidelines and reusable approaches; help teams integrate Specmatic; advise stakeholders on technical choices; promote reliable, scalable and maintainable testing solutions; build support for new standards; collaborate with engineers, QA professionals, architects and other stakeholders. What makes this role different: it combines hands-on technical expertise with research, standardisation and organisational influence. You will explore what works, prove it in practice and enable other teams to implement it. Though a strong hands-on QA background is essential, you will not spend time executing application-level test cases. Your impact comes from improving how teams test, providing technical direction and establishing solutions. What you bring: a strong, hands-on background in quality assurance and software testing; proven technical expertise; solid knowledge of contract-based testing; experience with Specmatic, or demonstrably strong expertise to become productive quickly; experience investigating solutions and building POCs; ability to assess reliability and suitability; experience with one or more of Java, TypeScript, Python, .NET; understanding of CI/CD, APIs and automated testing; strong interest in standardisation; excellent communication and stakeholder-management; confidence to challenge practices; ability to collaborate across cultures. Experience with mainframe is welcome but not essential. The environment: an international and versatile team within a large financial organisation, technically diverse with modern stacks and legacy technologies. Contract: secondment basis; freelance or self-employed engagement not possible.
