Omschrijving
The local authority client in Warwickshire is seeking a qualified Trading Standards Officer to join their team on a contract basis for an initial 6-month period, with the possibility of extension. They are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate current competency in one or more of the following areas: Product Safety, Legal Metrology, and Feed Hygiene. Key responsibilities include carrying out inspections of businesses and premises across Warwickshire, investigating complaints and potential breaches of Trading Standards legislation, providing advice and guidance to businesses regarding regulatory compliance, undertaking enforcement and compliance activities within specialist areas, preparing reports and documentation to support investigations, and working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to protect consumers and support legitimate businesses. Required experience includes a recognised Trading Standards qualification, current competency in at least one of Product Safety, Legal Metrology, or Feed Hygiene, experience conducting inspections, investigations and regulatory compliance activities, ability to deal effectively with complaints and enquiries, strong communication, organisational and report-writing skills, and a full UK driving licence with ability to travel throughout Warwickshire for site visits. Desirable experience includes competency across more than one specialist area, previous local authority Trading Standards experience, and experience providing business advice and undertaking enforcement action. The role is a 6-month contract with a competitive hourly rate, opportunity to work within an established Local Authority Trading Standards team, and potential for contract extension.
