Omschrijving
We are seeking an experienced Tree Officer to join our team on an initial 6-month contract, supporting a range of tree management and planning matters across Staffordshire. The role will focus primarily on Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and trees within Conservation Areas, providing professional advice, assessing applications and ensuring appropriate tree protection and management. Key responsibilities include assessing and processing applications relating to TPOs and Conservation Areas, undertaking tree inspections and site visits across Staffordshire, providing professional arboricultural advice to planning officers, applicants, residents and other stakeholders, assessing proposed works to protected trees and making appropriate recommendations, preparing clear and accurate reports, consultation responses and decisions, assisting with enforcement and investigation of unauthorised tree works where required, liaising with contractors, consultants, landowners and members of the public, and maintaining accurate records in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and best practice. The ideal candidate should have proven experience working within a local authority or similar planning environment, strong knowledge of TPO and Conservation Area legislation and procedures, good arboricultural knowledge, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload, and a professional, practical approach to site inspections and stakeholder engagement. The offer includes a 6-month contract with potential for extension, a negotiable rate based on experience and suitability, a varied role with a strong focus on protected trees and planning, and weekly site presence in Staffordshire with flexibility around the remaining working arrangements.
