Our client, a leading EPC contractor supporting major FPSO and offshore Oil & Gas projects, is seeking an experienced Welding Engineer to join their project team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing welding engineering expertise throughout the fabrication, construction, integration, and commissioning phases of FPSO projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements. Responsibilities include developing, reviewing, and implementing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Tests (WQT/WPQT); providing welding engineering support for FPSO fabrication, topsides module construction, hull conversion, integration, and offshore installation activities; ensuring all welding activities comply with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications such as ASME, AWS, API, and ISO; reviewing engineering drawings, material specifications, welding maps, and fabrication procedures; monitoring welding operations and overseeing implementation of approved welding procedures; coordinating welder qualification and certification activities; supporting construction and fabrication teams in resolving welding-related technical issues; investigating welding defects and failures, conducting root cause analysis, and recommending corrective actions; liaising with Engineering, Construction, QA/QC, NDT, Client, and Subcontractor teams; reviewing NDT results, repair procedures, and welding quality records; ensuring proper control, storage, and usage of welding consumables; monitoring welding productivity, repair rates, and quality performance indicators; preparing welding procedures, technical reports, method statements, inspection plans, and project documentation; participating in audits, inspections, client meetings, and quality reviews; and ensuring compliance with all HSE, QA/QC, and project requirements. Requirements include a degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline; minimum 5 years of experience as a Welding Engineer within Oil & Gas, Offshore, Marine, Shipbuilding, or Energy industries; proven experience on FPSO projects including fabrication, module construction, topsides, hull conversion, integration, or offshore installation; strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW); experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, super duplex stainless steel, and nickel-based alloys; sound knowledge of codes and standards such as ASME Section IX, AWS, API, ISO 3834; hands-on experience in preparing and qualifying WPS, PQR, WPQT; good understanding of welding metallurgy, heat treatment, weldability, weld defects, and failure analysis; familiarity with NDT methods (RT, UT, PAUT, TOFD, MT, PT, VT); ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications; strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills; effective communication and stakeholder management abilities; and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural environment. Preferred qualifications include experience with EPC contractors, fabrication yards, or shipyards supporting FPSO projects; International Welding Engineer (IWE) certification; CSWIP 3.1/3.2 or AWS-CWI certification; experience supporting major FPSO projects executed by EPC contractors; and previous experience working in Singapore-based fabrication yards, shipyards, or offshore construction projects.
