Z/OS Engineering Manager – 100% Remote

Working environment: You will work in a technical Mainframe environment focused on z/OS system stability, availability, maintenance and migration.

Location: fully remote.

Hours: 40 hours per week.

Working hours: 08:30–17:00 CET.

Joining preference: immediate availability. We are looking for an experienced z/OS Systems Specialist with 10 to 20 years of Mainframe experience. The technical focus is on z/OS system administration, workload management, SMP/E, production support, Disaster Recovery and migration from CA tooling to IBM or alternative ISV products.

What will you do: Manage and maintain z/OS systems with a focus on high availability and stability. Perform IPL activities, system configuration and environment-readiness activities. Monitor and manage batch jobs using JCL, SDSF and scheduling tools. Install and maintain system software using SMP/E. Apply patches, maintenance and system upgrades. Provide L2/L3 production support and resolve z/OS-related incidents. Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive technical solutions.

Participate in CAB processes and support technical change deployments. Support Disaster Recovery drills, system recovery and failover activities. Perform and support migrations from CA tools/software to IBM or alternative ISV products. Work with CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ and Storage specialists. Work with vendors on technical issue resolution, maintenance and upgrades.

Tech/Tooling: z/OS, JCL, JES2, SDSF, SMP/E, TWS / Control-M, CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, RACF, CA/Broadcom tooling, IBM and alternative ISV products.

What do you bring: Must haves: 10 to 20 years of relevant Mainframe experience. Strong hands-on experience with z/OS, JCL, JES2 and SDSF. Product migration experience from CA tools/software to IBM tools/software or alternative ISV products. Knowledge of SMP/E, system upgrades and patching. Experience with batch scheduling tools such as TWS or Control-M. Exposure to CICS, DB2, IMS and MQ. Familiarity with RACF and Mainframe security concepts. Fluent spoken and written English.

Nice to have: Experience migrating CA Deliver to Beta DocZ (Beta 93). Experience migrating CA Dispatch to Beta DocZ (Beta 93). Experience migrating CA TPX Session Management to IBM CL/SuperSession. Experience migrating CA View to Beta LogZ (Beta 92). Experience migrating CA JMR to BETA LOGZ.
